iSteddfod, 1st app for Welsh speakers Thursday, July 22, 2010 - 11:12
The National Eisteddfod has embraced digital media literacy with the launch of the "iSteddfod" App for iphones. This App will enable users to navigate around the Maes and find out what's on and where. Cerys Furlong, NIACE Dysgu Programme Director, says "what a fantastic App! The developers and the National Eisteddfod are to be congratulated on this innovative use of the latest digital media resources to promote Wales' premier cultural event. Many others could learn from this example". The venture is the idea of two software designers from Llanberis, Gwynedd, and has the backing of organisers. The week-long festival is held in August in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, but the app is already available to download using the latest technology
