Digital Stories
One bright November day some older learners started on a new and exciting learning experience. After five days of conversations, creative word games, battles with "drag and drop", many cups of coffee and some hard work each of them had
- written and recorded a short story about their learning
- selected images to illustrate their story
- learned how to scan those images and store them digitally and
- put script and images together using movie editing software on a laptop.
The oldest member of the group was 82 and several had not used a computer before but the digital stories on this DVD are proof that you are never too old to learn. There are stories of great personal triumph, of uncovering treasures and of trivia. There are stories to make you laugh or to make you cry and some that do both. The message however is clear. Learning is an important part of later life.
NIACE Dysgu Cymru would like to thank all the storymakers for giving their time, Breaking Barriers Digital Storytelling Project for facilitating the work and ESF for providing the funding to enable it to happen.
