Central Infants Family Learning Class
Central Infants Family Learning Class teaches math's to children and their parents, introducing them to a new system that older members of the family might not have been aware of.
Karen Workman, Neath Port Talbot College says that 'The children join in for part of every session, and love being involved with teaching and demonstrating the math's to their parents and grandparents. This is true evidence of families learning together. I have had the privilege of being involved with these families and watching confidence grow, communication develop and new skills being obtained.'
A member of the group, Rachel Fouler, says that 'Being in a group has made learning much more fun. I never imagined that I would go back into education and certainly not to do math's. I would encourage others to join Family Learning as it is a fun way to learn and you never know what it can lead to.'
The course has begun to show its effects in the progression of its students. 'Some parents have joined the PTA, others have enquired about progressing onto other courses,' says Karen Workman 'I feel that this group in particular are an inspiration to the families around them as they have taken the difficult decision to return to a school setting to learn math's in a completely new way. They have certainly inspired me.'
