What does NIACE Dysgu Cymru do?
The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) is the national, independent organisation for adult learning in England and Wales. NIACE both represents and advances the interests of all adult learners and potential learners - especially those who have benefited least from education and training. NIACE aims to improve opportunities for adult learners across all sectors with a particular focus on those adults who have not had successful access to learning in their initial education. NIACE seeks to achieve this through:
- Running high profile campaigns such as Adult Learners' Week, Sign Up Season and Taking Control;
- Engaging local and national media;
- Delivering high quality research, development and evaluation work;
- Supplying expert consultancy, advice and support services;
- Engaging policy makers;
- Supporting networking with practitioners, policy-makers and researchers;
- Publishing leading books and journals;
- Disseminating specialist information; and
- Providing flexible and personalised training courses.
Our work crosses all fields and sectors of post-16 education and training. NIACE has expertise in work with ICT, adults with basic skills needs, the voluntary sector and promotes the benefits of learning to the unemployed, families, black and ethnic minority groups, people with disabilities or learning difficulties, older learners and young adults.
